Lei Garden Restaurant Group

Lei Garden was founded in 1973 in Hong Kong by Guangdong native, Chan Shu Kit, the son of a Kuomintang general. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest and most recognized Cantonese restaurant groups in Asia, with 24 Lei Garden and Lei Bistro restaurants across Hong Kong, mainland China, Singapore and Macau.  

With numerous accolades, including 57 Michelin stars, Lei Garden Restaurant Group employs more than 2,500 people and is dedicated to delivering a seamless Cantonese dining experience based on four main tenets: Efficient and attentive service, elegant design, superior quality of produce and ingredients, and innovative gastronomy. Andy Borland, Managing Director, Scales Corporation

Andy joined Scales in 2007 and became Managing Director in 2011. Prior to joining Scales he had a 20 year career in banking, with his final role being Head of Corporate at Westpac New Zealand. Andy has overall responsibility for the strategic direction and day-to-day management of Scales. In addition to his directorships of the Group, Andy is currently a Chairman of Akaroa Salmon Limited, Primary Collaboration New Zealand Limited and Primary Collaboration New Zealand (Shanghai) Co. Limited, and is a  Director of apple and pear industry body Pipfruit New Zealand Incorporated, George H Investments Limited, Rabobank New Zealand Limited, Rabobank Australia Limited and Rabo Australia Limited.  Andy also has an involvement with Central Otago deer and beef cattle breeding and fattening farming company Loganbrae Limited.

Lisa is very active in Auckland's business and Chinese community, serving as Secretary General of the China Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand as a founding member. She is frequently acknowledged for her contributions to bilateral business development; such as being selected from a number of Chinese business leaders as the "Best Relationship Builder" in China Business. Lisa is active in Tourism New Zealand initiatives and governance which has lead to her selection in the distinguished NZ Asian Leaders group.

Lisa Li, Managing Director, China Travel Service (NZ) Ltd.

Lisa Li was born in northwest China's Qinghai Province and grew up in Xian where she was awarded a degree from Shaanxi Normal University and commenced her career with China Travel Service.  She moved to New Zealand in 1998 and attended University of Auckland, where she gained her Master of International Business.Lisa was asked to open the New Zealand overseas branch of China Travel Service in 2000, originally to handle ground arrangements for inbound Chinese visitors; as well as outbound travel requirements for New Zealand travelers, shortly after New Zealand was awarded ADS status. The company also provides expertise in inbound and outbound business delegations. The company has grown to become one of the premier China specialists. Lisa signed a MOU for CTS as the Chinese government's tourism representative in New Zealand and witnessed the signing of the historic Free Trade Agreement, with tourism being included in the FTA.

Mark Hiddleston

Managing Director Commercial & Agri

Mark has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector covering a broad range of roles and organisations in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.Mark leads the Commercial & Agri business in New Zealand representing teams that deliver relationship management to customers with annual turnover ranging from $2-$250m.

Rod Drury

Rod Drury (Ngai Tahu), is founder and CEO of NZX/ASX listed Xero, an online accounting solution serving a million small businesses all over the world with a market cap of $2.5B 

Rod is 2013 EY New Zealand Entrepreneur of the Year, NZ Herald Business Leader of the year in 2012, member of the NZ Hi-Tech Hall of Fame, NZ Hi-Tech Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006 and 2007,  World Class New Zealander for ICT in 2008 and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of IT Professionals NZ.

Mr Jack Hu

Mr. Jack Hu, born in 1979, is Director of Gorges Jade Holdings Ltd and is in charge of the Carrington project, which is 100% funded by Shanghai CRED in New Zealand. Mr. Hu has qualifications for Class 1 Construction Engineer and qualifications for Cost Engineer of PRC. 

 

Shanghai CRED Real Estate Stock Co., Ltd. was incorporated in 1999. It is an unlisted shareholding company.  Its total asset has grown over 2000%, having reached 16.3 billion RMB from its original registered capital of 807 million RMB. It has grown to integrate different sectors such as real estate development, non-banking finance, financial investment, overseas projects, cultural education and commercial operation under its corporate umbrella.

 

In October 2013, in compliance with China’s “going out” strategy, Shanghai CRED successfully received approvals from both China and New Zealand governments to invest in the Carrington project which sits at Karikari Peninsula, Far North.  The project will see the completion of: a four star plus resort, a championship level 18-hole Golf Course, a beautiful Kely Estate with clear spring lake, 4.5 kilometers of white sandy beach and an ecological farm with cattle and sheep flocks.

 

And in April 2016, under the witness of John Key, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Shanghai CRED successfully cooperated with Queenstown Resort Collage and established QRC's Tai Tokerau Resort College in Paihia. This college’s mainly objective is to train Maori youth and prepare them to become an important force in the development of New Zealand’s tourism industry.

Michael Franks

Michael is the Chief Executive and leads Seeka’s management team and is focused on growing earnings and generating value for all stakeholders. Joining Seeka in 2003, and appointed chief executive in 2006, Michael has built on Seeka’s core competencies in kiwifruit logistics to expand operations across more products in more markets, generating value through a full orchard-to-market service. He is a chartered accountant highly-experienced in commercial management, having held senior management positions at Norske Skog, and contributed to industry-focused research with senior roles at the Forest Research Institute and AgResearch.

Ratahi Cross

Ratahi has a background in Natural Science specialising in Native flora and fauna. He also lectures in Māori History.

Ratahi is the Chairman of several Trust Boards throughout the Eastern areas of the North Island. He chairs Te Awanui Huka Pak Ltd and Ngāi Tūkairangi Trust, the largest Māori kiwifruit grower in New Zealand. The orchard is the jewel in the crown of Māori kiwifruit orchards and is situated on the Matapihi Peninsula at Mount Maunganui.  Ngāi Tūkairangi is the Largest Māori shareholder in Zespri and Te Awanui Huka Pack Ltd, Ngāi Tūkairangi also has a wholly owned subsidiary called Tūkairangi Investments Limited who are developing multiple strands of business interests both in and outside the industry.

For almost all of the thirty years he has been a lawyer, he has been closely connected with the fishing industry and the lobster fishery in particular. This means that his depth of involvement in the fishing industry dates back to the creation of the quota management system in the mid-1980s.

Mr. Xue Congfa

Mr. Xue Congfa is the chairman of Shanghai Fu Min Investment Company Ltd, Shanghai Longwin Import and Export Trading Company Ltd, Shanghai Long Da Seafood Company Limited.

Mr. Xue is also the chairman of Shanghai Fujian Seafood Chamber of Commerce, and honorary chairman of Shanghai Fu Qing Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Xue originally came out from countryside of Fu Qing, Fu Jian Province. After more than 20 years hard work, he is now a successful live seafood entrepreneur based in Shanghai of China.

Mr. Xue started his business in 1990 from Guangdong Province and set up his company in Shenzhen and Shenyang. In 1996, He moved the head quarter to Shanghai. With the development these years, he is one of the most influential leaders in live seafood business in Shanghai and turnover reached more than USD 100 million per annum.

Shanghai Fujian Seafood Chamber of Commerce was set up in 2009. There are more than 400 members and their business covered products from New Zealand, Australia, US, Canada, Norway, Chile, Malaysia, and domestic seafood. The chamber provides a great platform to connect the overseas suppliers and contribute the seafood industry in China.

With the influence in seafood business and his contribution in public services, Mr. Xue was also invited to several overseas visits delegation with Prime Minister Mr. Li Keqiang in 2011 to Germany and UK, and Chairman of China Mr. Xi Jinping in 2014 to Holland, France, Germany and Belgium.

Bryan Henderson

Bryan is chairman of Fiordland Lobster Company Limited, and has sat around the board table of that company for much of its history. He is also a commercial lawyer, and a partner at Anderson Lloyd, which is the South Island's biggest law firm. 

Riri Ellis

Riri is currently the General Manager Tukairangi Investments Ltd (TIL), a subsidiary company wholly owned by the Ngai Tukairangi Trust of which Riri is the Deputy Chair.  Former roles include Treaty of Waitangi Settlement management where she was instrumental in achieving a successful settlement package for Ngai Te Rangi in Tauranga Moana. Riri has extensive experience in executive and project management the areas of housing, Te Reo Rangatira, research and education.

Riri Ellis is an experienced executive manager and director with a track record for achieving commercially and culturally sustainable outcomes for the organisations she leads. She is the Mataatua Delegate on the Federation of Māori Authorities, the Chairperson of the BOP Māori Economic Committee and a Māori Business Representative on the Bay Connections Governance Board. She is also the Chairperson of Tuhono Whenua Horticulture Ltd, who is leading the development of Miro Ltd (Blueberries).

John Bostock, Bostock New Zealand

John is the owner of Bostock New Zealand.  He was the pioneer of commercial, organic apple production in New Zealand and now BOSTOCK New Zealand is the largest organic apple grower in the Southern Hemisphere, exporting most of New Zealand’s national crop.

Mr Zhou Jinwang, Shanghai Fisheries Group Company Limited 

Shanghai Fisheries Group Company Limited (SFGC) is a wholly-owned Group by Shanghai SASAC, which is a multinational corporation utilizing the international fisheries resources to deep sea fishing and finely processing of fisheries products as the main business scope. Mayor Meng Foon

Mayor Meng Foon has been a local forever and loves his community with a passion.

Meng was elected as a councillor to the Gisborne District Council in 1994. 

He has been the Mayor of Gisborne since 2001. He brings his extensive business and governance experience to the mayoral role. Meng’s vision is to build Tairawhiti into an outstanding region where everyone can realise their dreams.

He enjoys governance as evidenced by his membership in the New Zealand Rugby League Board, local sporting organisations Tairawhiti Arts, Waitangi Day Fund Committee, Tairawhiti Special Olympics, the New Zealand Chinese Association, the New Zealand Arts Foundation and many more.

Meng’s philosophy is that people and relationships are most important.  He has been instrumental in developing policies for a “user friendly council” and his mission is to “reduce red tape” to make things happen.

Meng’s experience in local government public private partnerships is diverse.  He collaborates with businesses and government to achieve infrastructure outputs and outcomes for the Tairawhiti community.

In 2011, the Ministers for Economic Development and Māori Affairs established an independent Māori Economic Development Panel, tasked with developing a Māori Economic Strategy and Action Plan.

He kai kei aku ringa (providing the food you need with your own hands), the Māori Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan was subsequently released in 2012.

He kai kei aku ringa is designed to build on the experience of previous strategies and initiatives and recognises that Māori development is fundamental to the development of New Zealand. He kai kei aku ringa focuses on boosting Māori economic performance, and is being implemented through a Crown Māori Economic Growth Partnership.
