Taniwha Dragon Economic Summit
TANIWHA DRAGON ECONOMIC SUMMIT群龙会- 国际经济贸易会展
The Taniwha Dragon Economic Summit was held on the 20-21st February 2017 at the new Clubs Hastings venue on Victoria Street in Hastings. This event was an outstanding success. Many delegates felt the calibre of the speakers were superb and it was the best line-up of presenters they have heard at a conference in New Zealand of this nature.
Presenters included New Zealand Prime Minister Rt Hon Bill English, the Prime Minister of the Cook Islands, the Rt Hon Henry Puna, three Cabinet Ministers (Hon Todd Mc Clay, Hon Simon Bridges and Hon Te Ururoa Flavell), four Members of Parliament (Hon Craig Foss, Meka Whaitiri, Marama Fox and Stuart Nash) and the Finance Minister for Samoa, Hon Sili Epa Tuioti.
Three mayors presented as well, Lawrence Yule from Hastings District Council, Bill Dalton, Napier City council and Meng Foon Gisborne District Council. Present also were iwi leaders, Maori and New Zealand business interests and a host of investment groups.
A number of discussions have been held post summit between various groups with 1 deal worth $42 million signed between a local hapu and Chinese group in the Kiwifruit-Orchard industry.
The highlight for many was the Summit dinner at Craggy Range which included a keynote address by the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Bill English (pics). The dinner showcased the best fresh product with protein sponsored from Taratahi and crayfish supplied from Fiordland Lobster.
