The purpose of the two Takitimu Vybz nights was to provide a venue to celebrate and round off our Te Matatini host duties for visitors, kapa haka performers, volunteers and crew.
Numbers were lower than expected on the Saturday night, with the main reason being that the announcement of the teams who made the finals not being made until late Saturday night. While there were many performers who wanted to attend, this restricted their ability to purchase tickets in advance and attend. Comments were also received that those who were at Te Matatini were enjoying it so much that they didn’t want to risk being late the following day for the finals.
Clubs Hastings proved to be an excellent venue. Many commented (both the performers and patrons) that they thought the venue was outstanding the line-up of artists right up there with other major music festivals.
In total we sold 855 tickets, with 711 buying single night tickets, 49 taking advantage or the two day discount price and 95 VIP tickets sold at $100 per ticket.
